From the date of its original publication down to present moment, it (The Declaration of Independence) has been attacked again and again, either in anger or in contempt, by friends as well as by enemies of the American Revolution, by liberals in politics as well as conservatives. …
John Adams took evident pleasure in speaking of it as a document in which were “recapitulated” previous and well known statements of American rights and wrongs, and who, as late as in the year 1822, deliberately wrote: There is not an idea in it but what had been hackneyed in Congress two years before.
Jefferson himself seems to have been conscious (of criticism); and perhaps never does rise before us with more dignity, with more truth, than when, late in his lifetime, hurt by the captious and jangling words of disparagement … quietly remarked, perhaps these statements might “all be true: of that I am not to be the judge. … Whether I had gathered my ideas from reading or reflection, I do not know. I know only that I turned only to neither book nor pamphlet while writing it. I did not consider it as any part of my charge to invent new ideas altogether and to offer no sentiment which had ever been expressed before.”
While the Declaration of Independence lacks originality in one sense, in another and perhaps higher sense, it possesses originality – it is individualized by the character and genius of its author. Jefferson put something into it that was his own, and that no one else could put there. Jefferson put himself into it – his own genius, his own moral force, his faith in God, his faith in ideas, his love of innovation, his passion for progress, his invincible enthusiasm, his intolerance of prescription, of injustice, of cruelty, his sympathy, his clarity of vision, his affluence of diction, his power of filling out great phrases which will long fire and cheer the souls of men struggling against political unrighteousness …
Surely, no slight effect must have resulted from the fact that, among all civilized peoples, the one American document best known is The Declaration of Independence … and if as that brilliant historian has affirmed, “that noble Declaration … ought to be hung in the nursery of every king (and tyrant), and blazoned on the porch of every royal palace,” it is because the Declaration of Independence has become the classic statement of political truths which must at last abolish all kings (and tyrants) … End Excerpt.
Side personal note from Texas Drifter to Obama, why will your “hope and change” policies” never be comparable to “hope and change policies” of Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence? Simple, Jefferson was a humble Judeo-Christian man devoted to being a good American; while you Mr. Obama are a vain, selfish, mean spirited, evil man driven by colonial racial hatreds seeking to destroy Americans’ lives, liberties, and pursuit of happiness by becoming a tyrant. (Some may say Texas Drifter, how can you be so blunt? Is not political correctness bad person's way to temper their conduct? Besides what is value of free speech when there is no good, only wrong and wrong light?)
Doubt accuracy of last two observations, deny following actions as being reflections of your, Mr. Obama, daily personal conduct:
1. Chronically lying to American public;
2. Stealing Americans’ property with excessive taxes;
3. Trying to bankrupt America with excessive national debts many which include bailing out foreign governments and banks at expense of future American generations;
4. Ignoring constitutional due process laws by ignoring federal judicial orders, and trying to use extortion to influence Supreme Court decisions;
5. Destroy America’s ethical capitalist economy using fascist regulations carried out by fascist acting federal, state, and local public agencies;
6. It is not conservatives rather Obama’s and his administration along with RINOs who are killing indigent not welfare subsidy addicts with “stabilize then let die somewhere else” and Social Security / SSI “deny applications until patients die” policies;
7. Corrupt federal elections with illegal immigrant voters entering America through porous borders;
8. Destroy domestic tranquility by promoting racist crimes by Blacks against other American racial and ethnic groups, and tolerate crimes committed by illegal immigrants representing ten percent of American population who commit estimated forty percent of crimes in America;
9. Betray America’s national security in too many ways to list is this writing exercise, though most recent is buying defective military spare parts from China; and
10. Constantly trying to replace America’s constitution with United Nations’ treaties to turn America into another U.N. third world country.
Reader’s assignment, add other ways Obama, his administration and aristocratic moderate Republican establishment are all trying to destroy Heaven’s favorite constitutional republic.
Texas Drifter wishes only for two things, first that Obama and his RINOs allies will last remember before going to sleep, and first remember when waking up: you may inflict great damage on Heaven’s favorite constitutional republic and ethical capitalist society; but you will never destroy that uniquely American spirit to protect, defend, and serve defined by one Judeo-Christian God's words inspired and recorded in Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence.
Warning for Obama his supporters, his RINO allies: as your vanities cause you to make more and more incompetent decisions; beware your friends and closest allies, as they will all abandon then betray you as America’s Judeo-Christian giant slowly awakens.
