Texas Drifter Hurricane Alex Report
Marshall’s Law Townhall Dateline – Follow up report of Hurricane Alex June 2010 to Hurricane Dolly in 2008 starts with review of Hurricane Dolly in 2008; so reader will know lesser reasons Texas Drifter decided to not seek “shelter in town”.
Primary reason for not leaving smaller ranch; harsh but true ranch scouts get paid to do their jobs is hot weather, cold weather, storms including hurricanes. In some occasions looters are greater risk to livestock and property they do not take vacations even during hurricanes.

This writing exercise “Hurricane Dolly On Scene Report”. America will never return to being the country envisioned by Founding Fathers; until honest hard working America conservatives stop tolerating wasteful, incompetent, corrupt, and morally bankrupt use of their tax dollars by both socialist Democrats and moderate Republicans.
Comparable mindset too socialist Republicans, being one of the few never losing electric power before, during, or after Hurricane Dolly due to batteries in my fifth wheel “”Free Spirit”; brought unexpected tourists. I asked the late night visitor during the storm, “thought you were married?” Her response, “I pray to the Lord every day not to get caught doing adultery.” Now I am no religious scholar, do not think praying to not get caught committing a sin is how salvation system works.
Hurricane dolly’s legacy for future historians will be professional volunteer victims scamming contributors whose incompetence created many avoidable problems. Example, why should federal and state taxes be used for storm repairs while counties knowing allow substandard construction in dry lake beds? Let damages be covered by assets of corrupt local officials. What a strange concept, not rewarding corruption with taxes taken from honest hard working citizens.
Another possible title: “More Examples of Artificial Good Intentions of Public Bureaucrats and Government Officials Before During and After Disaster Management”. Being kind, most public officials before, during and after Dolly were less competent than junior officers calling artillery in on their own positions during Vietnam War.
Snapshots of recent Dolly visit will only be remembered as footnotes of previous personal experiences survived alone and on own. A few verbal visual experiences you might enjoy. Remember I try to paint with words like artists use colors. First, example of sheer foolishness, much water damage was from volunteer fire department causing wakes by driving through residential are at excessive speeds for no apparent purposes.
Republican County Judge did not warn citizens who did not evacuate approaching hurricane that county would only be conducting “fair weather” rescues.
Republican administration hurricane national security policy was politically correct actions at federal border check points with non-existent immigration document checks allowing illegal immigrants, smugglers, and possible terrorists to exit South Texas for interior America during hurricane evacuation. These were administration not field agent guidelines.
Two positive verbal photographs included, first an ethical capitalist who set up and provided within three hours day after Dolly free warm meals and water to three hundred to four hundred citizens. City’s response was to distribute two cases of defrosting microwaveable dinners which were useless without electricity to operate microwaves.
Second commendable actions were by out of South Texas electric repair crews from Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Carolinas.
Nearly most embarrassing behavior was “show” performances by federal, state, and local officials that exited air craft and stated to news media that these people “have problems”; then left area after letting public know how much they cared. No one should be surprised that most embarrassing conduct was by electronic news media before, during, and after Dolly. News media’s after storm gloating would make one feel media’s role was more important than planning, preparation, individual responsibility, and good fortune.
Want a fair question, how can government predict consequences of global warming, when it cannot reliably predict path of a wobbling hurricane two hours in advance? What was childhood expression about judging one’s character by company they do not keep?
Seems Constitutional right to assembly would extend to right of not assembling with some people. If one chooses not to socialize with internationalists, counterfeit conservatives, counter American Revolutionaries; should one not add socialist Republicans to list. More Dolly verbal visual photographs, confused priorities by some non-profit organizations like Salvation Army. The organization in two known cases set up free food lines that blocked traffic from entering small businesses that suffered losses of needed storm recovery revenues. The organization should reconsider policies of screwing contributors to help professional volunteer storm victims who could have walked across street to use food stamp cards.
My favorite scam was “rent an old person” especially for non-food supplies like mosquito repellent. Scam worked like this, get an old person in car then drive through to get freebies that could be sold on black market. Circle back in same car to get more freebies that were also headed to black market. Learned that two cars with one old person could be used to work scam all day, scam would follow distribution sites from community to community.
Government competed with scam artists for unethical behavior award. It seems public sector rescue teams only checked on Hispanic families while failing to see if Anglo families needed help. Isolated conduct of unintentional racism against Anglos by government, not quite as government only sprayed Hispanic home sites for mosquitoes while totally ignoring Anglo home sites.
Government officials and bureaucrats will deny discrimination against Anglos, but why should anyone believe Democrats and Republicans known for trading votes from minority voters for discrimination against Anglos? How consumed by hate does one have to be to not offer rescue services to storm victims because of ethnic background? How consumed by hate does one have to be to subject people to hordes of mosquitoes because of ethnic background?
Some property damage resulted from Dolly’s visit resulted from rising water due to government removing “drain ditches,” that caused flooding in areas never subjected to flooding in any previous hurricane or tropical storm. Most property damage from Dolly resulted from local politicians allowing and tolerating for votes substandard residential construction in flood prone areas.
Why should federal and Texas taxpayers subsidize preventable storm damages caused by one area’s political incompetence and corruption? Worst example of government arrogance and condescension was treatment of storm victims by FEMA field workers who have apparently never heard of concepts like courteous respectful interaction with people suffering personal tragedy. Perhaps citizens should enact policies which deport FEMA workers along with illegal immigrants.
Back to June 2010 day before Hurricane Alex expected to arrive. Diary like entries:
1. Smashed thumb in one of 10,000 incidents scenario, glad only smashed not dislocated or broken;
2. Put pond for native ducks together to catch fresh rain water;
3. Saw sunrise rainbow, Felina thinking of me;
4. Trip to town for few supplies, people driving around and shopping like insane aliens; many were also rude while shopping.
5. Asked if might be interested in volunteering as previously certified Emergency Medical Technician at shelter if needed. Declined as current employment did not permit leaving ranch. Plus last shelter I was in years and years ago can be described as follows: in one corner women in labor wanting to have their babies; in another corner people in labor making babies; babies from last hurricane running around yelling, screaming, and crying in soiled diapers many without any diapers running over and getting into other shelter dwellers bed rolls, food and water (shelter provided no food water, or anything else); older people suffering and moaning without medicine they left at home; all of the above combined with wall to wall storm refugees crying, screaming, praying with and between every time deafening thunder caused usually the high school gymnasium to creek and sway in hurricane force winds. Gets better, when electricity goes out total darkness makes entire incident gives new meaning to word purgatory.
Have been told that shelter experiences in Texas have gotten infinitely better; since media coverage of Katrina Hurricane infamy shelters in New Orleans; source seemed reliable so might be worth reader checking out for their own benefit.
6. Prepared fifth wheel “Free Spirit” for category one or category two storm and
policed area for possible flying objects and things to trip over in rising water;
7. Parked ranch 1993 Chevrolet 1500 “Z71 Off Road” into direction from which
storm winds should be arriving – North East. I hoped ranch Chevy would not be
needed as my last option too ride out approaching storm; hopefully without
moving an inch. Flash thought: Chevy sometimes last option; Chevrolet always
“Your Best Option.”
8. Helped neighbor deliver hay to another neighbor needing hay;
9. Got supper for helping deliver hay between more frequent rain bands;
10. Settled in Free Spirit to record these notes right before worsening weather hits later tonight or about sunrise;
Hurricane Day:
1. About sunrise cannot see sun through darkening clouds;
2. Thumb is black, still glad it was not dislocated, broken, or shattered;
3. Stay alert unpredictable risks, tropical tornadoes and rattlesnakes seeking higher ground;
4. Check Lists: batteries – fifth wheel, fan, flashlights, spot light, extra batteries
5. Miscellaneous supplies: drinking water, other water, food, first aid supplies, and so on;
6. check premises for looters and unwanted critters;
7. Return to Free Spirit for dry clothes and Patsy Cline music, nap – Yes Felina Texas Drifter takes naps more now since older – Weather Channel reports tropical tornadoes spotted – they wake you up so light sleep napping not a problem;
8. Lay down thinking about how blessed have been and still are, even if worst happens and am in wrong place at wrong time and do not make it to my last option Chevy Z71 Off Road.
9. Sometime afternoon more reports of tropical tornadoes in area and tropical winds are increasing. Appears to have already had six to eight inches of rain with winds fifty plus mile hour tropical winds. Actually this is relaxing part of Hurricane, all preparations finished and did not get hurt or crippled by some crazy driver or rude obnoxious shopper; wind and sideways rain are pleasing to senses; before storm strengthens, or hears tropical tornado which sounds like standing on track ties as train engine approaches and blasts by.
10. Approaching 10 PM positive news, Alex’s hurricane eye has apparently entered shore hundred miles south of this area in Mexico. Bad weather is still possible for hours as worst weather is always on north side of hurricane’s eye. Tornadoes will still be in area for another twelve to eighteen hours.
11. So far still here, and will survive storm if tropical tornadoes glance by without direct hit. Looters will probably stay away till morning and tropical wind dies down early morning. Stay alert: tired wet rattlesnakes in bad mood, plus floating: ticks, leeches, spiders, fire ants, scorpions, chagas kissing bugs; and other nuisances. Expect choking humidity heat indexes above hundred degrees as clouds break up, and of course plagues of mosquitoes.
Twenty Four hour final score:
1. lost not ranch pets
2. lost no livestock
3. no major property losses to storm
4. no looters came around
5. right thumb look bad does not hurt
6. seems to have survived another storm; hope America is blessed when it comes to surviving Leninist Obama’s planned political storms for Heaven’s favorite republic.
Reader need not worry Texas Drifter is sure Obama and his America last worshipers with help from Moderate Republicans will have been unpatriotic enough to provide material for Marshall’s Law Townhall next Dateline posting.
