Conservatives Can Be Better Writers
Dateline Marshall’s Law Townhall – Techniques for conservatives to improve their writings to better protect, defend, and regain control of America’s Constitutional Republic have been compiled and released by Texas Drifter. Notes for conservatives are as follows.
Every American patriot and or conservative citizen, except Lenin-Obama’s political zombies has a story to tell, principles to defend, points to promote, constructive criticisms to make, or questions to ask. Improving conservative writing styles makes each writing exercise more effective.
Readers already know my efforts at re-arranging words are imperfect writing exercises. Absence of vanity is recognition that perfect words are only published in one book, Holy Bible. This standard should not dissuade any conservative citizen from continuously exercising their inalienable rights of free speech and free press.
1) Good effective writing is more than randomly inserting words from a dictionary or synonym’s list. Learning to write starts with using composition tools.
2) Writing objectives:
a. Self / Personal
b. Culture – entertain, teach, or propaganda
c. Money / Commercial
d. Classic
e. Biblical
3) Writing can be used to inform or entertain. The structured style I use for consistent promotion writing:
- Example:
- identify target audience
- length (number of words determines number of seconds)
- neutral or personal
- ID
- hook
- who / what / when / where / why
- tag
Above list can be reorganized. For example:
- target audience: first time property buyers
- length: six words
- who: (name of company)
- what: Properties
- where: where
- personal: your
- why: dreams
- when: begin
-Product: tag
- (name of company) where your dreams begin."
Concept Test: "$100 dollars off down payment with this ad"
Legal Search: U.S. Copyright Search (no charge use internet)
- "where your dreams begin"
- (name of company) where your dreams begin"
Copyright (forms available on internet): U.S. Copyright: "Short Form TX" (Nondramatic Literary Work - estimate thirty dollars*) Or Form VA (Work of the Visual Arts – estimate
4) Question? Do you want to write to make money or just sell books to family and friends? Can't make a living selling to family and friends. Make money by selling information or entertainment to strangers.
5) Writing is full time. Carry a notebook or recorder. (Insert anecdotes) Half of great novels have been forgotten by authors going to write down a good line later. Inspiration may not be around tomorrow.
6) Write like you speak... evaluate writing by reading out loud.
7) Write realistic details... no finding clues next to “snow mobile rental stand” at South Padre Island... do appropriate research / write about what you know...
8) Contemporary formula (people against struggles) examples: self; others; nature; environment; conscience; super natural evil; fate / destiny; Lenin-Obama’s groupie zombies; and so on.
Compare to classic formula (tragedies): good individual (hero) struggles against superior force like fate and eventually loses.
Structure: Intro / three acts / conclusion / outro: (example - put character in tree / throw rocks at character / get character out of tree or don’t if tragedy).
Narrators can be first or third persons… remember people read to learn, or be entertained and forget about their lives.
9) Using outline (percentage of each / fill in blanks / polish / let “cool” / polish):
- Intro (double intro)
- Set Up (in tree)
- Act I (throwing rocks)
- ACT II (more intense throwing rocks)
- ACT III (even more intense throwing rocks)
- Outro
10) Writing is a business (writing is an art form / selling is art of business)… the purpose of commercial writing is to sell books; screenplay concepts; or ideas... how many people gather along the side of the road to watch over weight old person change a flat tire... how many people gather along the side of the road to watch young woman in bikini change flat tire?
11) Never quit because of rejection or criticism (999-1) ... remember if critics were successful writers they would be writing and not criticizing your work... let history be your judge… one example of late or belated success – Melville’s “Moby Dick”.
12) Writing is a twenty-four hour a day job - you have to love to write... develop own unique style... outlines are useful... first draft is most exciting... rewrites and polishing are work... use thesaurus for clarity not flash... know when to quit and start reviewing next project for: style; composition, correct word usage (get to be friends with a dictionary and a thesaurus); flow; and other criteria: like letting events cause characters to evolve, and cross character relationships!!
13) Business is business (the goal is to get paid not pay others)... some scams... inquiry letters - three paragraphs (here it is/SASE/thanks)...starts with: adds; news worthy press releases or editorials; other published writings (remembers news pace is "free advertising") talk shows and lectures.... writing, proof reading, and editing are about 20% while marketing is about 80% of a book's success)... internet will be to book marketing what the printing press was to publishing
14) Good writers use correct grammar, spelling, right word for right meaning use dictionary and thesaurus.
Successful writers must also be good business communicators to protect their property rights.
Study different types of contracts, and contract elements. Consider keeping control of product production process; for example, create concept, write, edit, proof read.
Publishing is printing, distributing; and marketing.
Goal is to retain rights, better to lease not sell rights. There are over thirty negotiating rights with each published peace.
15) Treat news media people with respect by being courteous and up front. Don't need an unnecessary bad PR war with these people.
16) Writer Vs. Author
17) Be free to write what ever you like; but remember the decision where to draw the line as to what you release is a moral decision which requires insightful courage
18) Writing to be popular: vanity is not being satisfied with God’s love, and greed is not being satisfied with Heaven’s blessings
19) Texas Drifter’s philosophy can be traced back to John R. Marshall’s “Read Before You Buy” which is based on the following:
1) Any book not worth reading or referencing more than once is not worth buying.
2) Read Before You Buy forces writers to become authors.
3) Read Before You Buy saves consumers money.
4) Read Before You Buy reduces expenses and maximizes profits for publishers.
5) Read Before You buy identifies two human traits. First, good books sell themselves; second, readers are not inclined to retreat to their favorite places with “good” monitors in their lap in their favorite chair in front of fireplace on cold blustery night.
6) Read Before You Buy volumes of essays, notes, and short stories are more cost effective when marketing literary property rights.
7) Read Before You Buy success depends on writing tomorrow’s classics today.
8) Read Before You Buy: blogs like Marshall’s Law Townhall or Citizens Passions started with articles for theconservativevoice.com with latest products MARSHALL’S YELLOW ROSE; PART TIME DEMENTIA DIARY; and SPY AS A VERB: Art and Ethics of Surveillance
20) Final Process: create idea, do research, write outline, first draft, second draft, polish draft, publish on you blog, move on to next writing exercise; best to not waste your time constantly re-reading your own work keep moving on to new writing exercises, and never forget eventually good writing sells itself.
This old farmer’s son believes that America’s greatest literature has yet to be written. The Texas Drifter also believes that much of contemporary literature and art will be forgotten, as most symbolize Hollywood products which are little more than “pet rock” type soft porn marketing fads. Some conservative icon writers are also surfing waves of success based on talk show personality cult marketing not built from ground up quality writing. There you have some notes to help maybe you become one of America’s greatest conservative authors.
