Learn To Be First Responder
First responders are on scene citizens surviving attacks. Second responders are generally law enforcement providing security, and third responders are usually fire suppression or emergency medical services.
Average American citizens are woefully under educated in providing basic emergency medical aid before arrival of emergency medical services. A not too funny example to the person involved in following traffic accident. Person was still in but not trapped in his vehicle following a driving and drinking accident; he was roughly dragged from his vehicle and dropped on ground by first group arriving on scene.
After a minor discussion with second group arriving on scene, the democratic decision was that the person should be put back into vehicle so he could be “properly” removed by EMS. So the group picked the accident victim and forced him back into the wrecked car. No surprises here, what should have been “minor” injuries resulted in the accident victim being permanently paralyzed resulting from handling by spectators.
A necessary plan to make Americans better prepared to manage terrorist attacks by surviving as first responders involves offering a class with volunteers at minimal financial costs. Citizens from law enforcement, fire suppression services, emergency medical services, nurses, doctors and other volunteers could teach eight hour no costs to citizens’ classes. Training supplies and materials could be donated by companies for recognition of their donations.
The classes would teach “on scene” initial life saving techniques for first responders. Initial training would include managing: shrapnel wounds, bullet wounds, cutting wounds from flying glass, shock, heart attacks and other injuries resulting from terrorist attacks. As for those saying why take the classes, there have been no terrorist attacks since 911? That observation is not true, there have been no big attacks, and smaller attacks have been reclassified hate crimes for two reasons. First, provide false sense of security to American people; second reason, appease some oil trading partners.
The reason the government is being dishonest with American people is overshadowed by reality that only help for first responders is first responders, not those showing when dust starts to settle. Side benefit from above classes is same training can be used in other non-terrorist attacks emergency situations. For example “everyday” family emergency situations like child poisonings, heart attacks, strokes and other part of life medical problems.
Recent positive memories from good ideas can often overshadow earlier less than stellar performances. President Bush could leave a legacy responsible for saving tens of thousands and eventually hundreds of thousands of American lives by supporting implementation of “First Responder Classes”.

You hear something fell noise from the back part of you home, rush to the sound to find your loved appears to have had a heart attack and is covered in blood apparently from hitting edge of counter top during fall. What do you do? What do you do, help or stand around do nothing and feel helpless guilt rest of your life? You would have been better prepared to help your loved one if you had taken First Responder Class.
