Beyond Redemption Part II

Somebody once said all politics is local, I would like to expand that adage with “all local politics is personal”. Future “Country Club” Republicans and Socialist Democrats could someday learn that abandoning America’s middle class for public subsidy addicts was a greed based strategy with consequences.
Explaining not complaining, what happened to me in one part of Texas is something that could eventually affect middle class citizens across America. For purposes of this writing exercise, I will define middle class as attitudes not financial standards which are relative and can be affected by inflation.
Recent events in my home town area included:
1. My mother possibly killed because of misdiagnosed prescription. I did not file civil suit, because I did not want my dying father to think that his wife of sixty-two years was killed by incompetent fools.
2. My father’s death certificate was held hostage for two plus months by local hospital until a one day’s hospital bill was paid. Ever try to settle a loved one’s affairs without a death certificate?
3. Texas Concealed Carry Permit Commission stole my CCP renewal fee and refused to renew license. Same agency hides from Texas citizens by not having a direct telephone number to agency.
4. Local community health clinic set up to serve “poor”; to paraphrase told me illegal immigrants welcome, old white guys without cash or insurance can go die somewhere else.
Side note: all or most middle class citizens because of circumstances beyond their control end up financially embarrassed at least once in their lives. I my case I was not trying to become a public subsidy addict, only buy time to start over. Again, explaining not complaining. In my case, clinic’s decision almost cost me my life and caused me to have a stroke that scrambled my brain – anyway, my problem not yours.
5. My hometown administration refused to consider my application for a part time job requiring a high school equivalency diploma because I am a white man.
6. My hometown school district administration refused to hire me for a part time job requiring a high school diploma because I am a white male.
7. Local public housing authority refused me a vacant apartment to temporarily live; you guessed it because I am older white male.
8. Local food stamp office Texas Department Human Resources San Benito, Texas made “administrative decision to terminate my benefits during eligibility period because of clerical error made by agency”.
Side note: more likely reason is because I am an Anglo. Some examples:
a. Anglos who arrive first at office are interviewed after later arriving Hispanics are interviewed;
b. Anglos who call to complain are put “on hold” until they lose interest and do not call back;
c. Most likely reason, I was denied benefits –in this part of Texas, there are loosely knit extortionists known as “Welfare Mafia” who gets percentage of benefits for rides to welfare office or helping fill out welfare applications.
Since my stroke, I cannot drive. I was approached by about one half dozen different people in a couple of weeks time offering to provide me a ride or fill out my papers for twenty-five percent of my benefits.
Not being sympathetic to extortionists my usual response to paraphrase was “you can go have sex with yourself or your family, I really do not care.” Back to list:
9. To give you an idea how blanked up this part of Texas is, I decided to contact an area State Representative or State Senator for help in getting my food stamps reinstated. My current cash income is thirty five dollars a week for part time work during good weather. My rent is one hundred dollars a month and utilities come in twenty to thirty dollars a month. My temporary food stamps mean the difference between eating once a day and once every three days. My problem not yours.
Back to this undercover report. I contacted two Cameron County offices and one State Office, Texas Workforce Commission, and was told by all thee that they did not know names of local Representative or Senator and could not give me their phone numbers.
Finally contacted State Senator’s office for expedient promises without results; what surprise, a Democratic State Senator who was all blow and no show.
10. Friends dragged me back to local health clinic for serious spider bite. Clinic did prescribe medicine, but told me to contact pharmacist or read instructions with medicine for dosage amounts.
11. County property taxes are increasing to point of property owners losing property to provide higher living standards for illegal immigrants.
12. Cameron County Judge, county’s largest city mayor, county’s oldest college, most county politicians, business men, and community leaders are trading national security for greed, ignorance, and racism by interfering with efforts to build border fence. Justice would mandate if any American citizen is injured due to efforts of these America last policies that those responsible be held civilly liable.
13. Most local churches are like the Presbyterian Church my parents attended and contributed too for decades. My mother’s pastor refused to administer graveside services unless he got a one hundred dollar gratuity in advance. My father’s pastor refused to visit him at the nursing home because he was late on donations to church.
14. Good percentage of people walking around my hometown area are coke monkeys.
15. Not going to review unethical capitalist scams, abuses or crimes in my hometown area as I am about all writ out.
Do not want to leave the impression that there are no good people in my home town area.; there are and if it had not been for them I would have been dead moths ago.
I also want to stress that it is only because of Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, Constable’s Office Precinct 4, Justice of Peace Precinct 4, and R.H. Multi-Service Center that this old farmer’s son classified as destitute and crippled by county bureaucrats is still around to complete this writing exercise. All of these four agencies are run by American Hispanics proving again that there are two kinds of people good and other.
Closing thoughts, if any realist on this planet knows that life is not fair, it is me. I will not co-operate with any investigation into claims made in this writing exercise. Why give politicians an opportunity to engage in damage control at expense of truth?
It is my sincerest wish that Americans elect a Presidential candidate that leads the American people into a better future than the one I experienced in my home town area. Not optimism, only the realism that bad times are Heaven’s preparation or test of faith not punishment.
Post Script: As a Texas licensed surveillance instructor, as well as someone who has worked long term assignments undercover, I can admit that what started out as bad life experiences evolved to gather information for writing exercises did get out of control. Anyway, all I have done is report existing conditions in one part of Texas.
I have few doubts that what happened to me is probably going on in other parts of America. Since local politics can become personal and affect national politics America’s future history may not, I will just let you predict the ending.
